| For its 5th edition, the Tibor Junior International Violin Competition will cross the Alps to become the host of the Piccolo Violino Magico International Violin Competition, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. From 1 to 4 July 2026, talented young musicians aged 14 to 17 will be compete not in Sion, Switzerland, but in San Vito al Tagliamento, Italy. The strings of both competitions will vibrate in unison under the artistic direction of Pavel Vernikov. The virtuosos will compete by showcasing their musical prowess in three rounds: a 1st solo round based on video recording; a 2nd round in San Vito al Tagliamento (Italy), during which the young violinists will engage in a short musical "duel" with another candidate, accompanied by piano; the final in San Vito al Tagliamento (Italy), where the finalists will perform alongside a singer and the Orchestra of Accademia d’archi Arrigoni. The international Jury will be chaired by Pavel Vernikov, who is also the Artistic Director of the competition. The unsuccessful candidates from the 2nd round will join the jury for the final. Prizes ranging from €1,000 to €5,000 are up for grabs. Launched in 2018 under the leadership of Pavel Vernikov, the Tibor Junior Competition takes place every two years, alternating with its "big brother", the Tibor Varga International Violin Competition. Aimed at talented young violinists aged 14 to 17, it seeks to reveal not only future virtuosos, but also, and above all, true musicians. Since 2016, in a small, charming village in north-eastern Italy, the Piccolo Violino Magico International Violin Competition has been welcoming violin prodigies from around the world aged up to 13. This year, for its 10th edition, it will take place from 28 June to 5 July, once again in San Vito di Tagliamento. |
