LOOK BACK ON THE

ZERMATT-ZINAL WORKSHOP

First light on the Breithorn massif from the Arbenbiwak

14th-16th July 2025 Photo Workshop

Dear all,

Here's a look back at the 14 to 16 July photo workshop, which took place on a new itinerary, a traverse from Zermatt to Zinal via the Col Durant.

We enjoyed ideal mountain conditions for this crossing, the second day of which was mainly spent on glaciers.

The light conditions at the first sunset and sunrise from the 3225m altitude at the Arbenbiwak where we spent our first night were quite impressive and full of atmosphere. The unobstructed view of the north face of the Matterhorn put stars in our eyes (and our sensors!!).

Before crossing the Durant pass, we climb the Hohwäng glacier, which offers us a panoramic view of the Matterhorn and its neighbour, the Dent d'Hérens. A small gift before discovering the plunging view of the Mountet circus.

During our last sunset and sunrise from the Grand Mountet hut, we enjoyed rather cloudy conditions with low ceilings that cut off the summits of some of the 4000m peaks, but with a little patience, in the midst of this majestic atmosphere, the summits briefly revealed themselves to us to our great satisfaction.

Thanks to Adrien, Jonthan and Barnaby, the three participants in this magnificent crossing, for their good humour and enthusiasm over these three days.

And thanks to Jérôme for guiding us through these mountains with such class.

I am looking forward to seeing you on the next workshops together.

All the best to you all

Samuel
