Creation Time

Dear La Côte Church family and friends,

We are looking forward to embarking on the Season of Creation time with an All Age Holy Communion this coming Sunday 31 August in Crassier (10.00). Our theme for
this week is “Living out Transforming Hope” with Sarah French exploring with us the mystery and promise of Jesus’ Transfiguration.

Sarah has worked for many years with the Christian conservation global family of organisations, A Rocha International. She writes:

“Amid the triple planetary crises of climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution, it is easy to despair. I find that Archbishop Desmond Tutu’s words are helpful “Hope is
being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness.”

Hope motivates, inspires, and grounds us in purpose and action. It fosters confidence, resilience, and the commitment to pursue bold, sustainable change. In the Christian tradition, hope is active and transformative. The transfiguration of Jesus was not only a moment of divine glory but also a revelation of God’s power to change lives and the world. This transformative hope calls us to act: to live in hope and to care for creation with purpose and courage.”

Lord of justice and compassion,
you created the world in goodness and love
and made us to care with compassion for your earth and each other:
Forgive our neglect of creation and our indifference to suffering,
stir-up in us a hope that acts, a faith that speaks,
and a love that crosses every boundary.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who came to bring good news to the poor
and to restore all things in you, Amen.

The Wonder of Creation

As part of this season, Louise would love to receive any of your creations – paintings, drawings, photos, sculptures, arrangements, poetry, prose – which express the beauty of Creation. 10.00 Crassier - All Age Holy Communion followed by pot-luck lunch

Our Pot-luck is a chance to welcome newcomers and old timers!

We would like to invite both newcomers and longstanding members to join us for a potluck lunch in the Crassier parish rooms after our Sunday morning service. Whether you are brand new or more regular, this is a great chance to meet friendly faces, share a meal, and feel at home. We look forward to getting to know you!

Refreshments & Decorations for our Pot Luck Lunch

To make this event a success, we would appreciate some help with catering and decoration 🧁🦋

We are looking for afternoon tea style food: bite sized sandwiches, vol-au-vonts, sausuage rolls, butterfly cakes, fruit kebabs or even Colin caterpillars!

To decorate please bring a jam jar/recycled flower stand/old piece of wood etc - full of your own garden flowers or hand made butterflies/chrysallis/caterpillar decorations!

Can anyone offer help making recycled paper butterfly streamers or decorations for the church? Or help with washing up and cleaning afterwards?

Children & Youth programmes for the Rentrée

Coming up to the rentrée we would like to welcome you to our All Age celebration on 31 August. Our new Children & Youth programmes are starting and we have something to offer all ages.

Under 5's - Monthly, Messy, Godly play starting 7 September.

Primary school age - Sunday Club led by our volunteer Sunday Club team and held every second, third and fourth Sunday of the month from 14 September.

11-12 yrs upwards - Youth Alpha Course led by Armel on Sunday evenings and Joy, for online sessions. Starts 7 September.

Coming up this weekend, we would love to welcome you at our All-Age Holy Communion in Crassier at 10.00. This service will cater for our different ages and abilities and is followed by a potluck lunch for everyone.

WALKING TOGETHER IN FAITH
AN ONLINE LAY LEARNING COURSE

If you are hungry to learn about Christianity, do explore this online study course starting in early September. It is open to all lay members of the Church – whether you are simply looking to learn more about the Christian faith or exploring the possibility of formal lay ministry. Please submit your application by 8 September. If there are some of us in the area who sign up to do the course, we could arrange some in person gatherings.

La Cote Playgroup in Divonne

The La Côte Playgroup will reopen on September 4th, when we look forward to welcoming all caregivers with children aged 0-4 who would like to join us in the Divonne Parish rooms from 9.30 - 11.30 on Thursdays.
