Happy Birthday, Grand 8 Sailors Circle!!

🎉 On the 1st of August 2025 we will celebrate our first anniversary as a registered association!

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has contributed to this project with passion, energy and trust.
What began as a bold idea has grown into a vibrant community of dedicated sailors and visionaries, united by a common purpose and sailing a shared course!

S/V ENOLA @ Hanse Sail 2025

⛵ Exciting event and venue: S/V Enola will be taking part in Hanse Sail 2025 in Rostock, one of the largest maritime events in Europe.

Come and visit us alongside the quay or under full sail from 6–10 August in Rostock or off the coast of Warnemünde!

Major Scientific Partnership

🧪 We've just signed the first major and longterm partnership of our COCILES scientific, environmental and educational program with a Swiss organisation. We will reveal all details by the end of August, so stay tuned!

📬 Isn’t it always nice to find a postcard in your mailbox? (No, not an electronic or virtual one sent by email, but a real postcard!)

Surely much better than only getting all these bills, tax payment reminders or junk mail from local stores…

Enola’s Refit Update:  Progress & Challenges

🔨 Our technical refit is progressing steadily. The revamped electrical installation is almost complete, and the mast and the brand new standing rigging will be installed by 4 August.

However, the aesthetic and comfort upgrades have faced some challenges due to:

• delays caused by low motivation and poor coordination from local contractors.
• shockingly high price quotes, forcing us to rethink our plans.

While S/V Enola will be perfectly safe to set sail by 5 August, some upgrades will be completed later in September in Horta, Azores.

Our focus remains on safety, quality and achieving our next milestones.

Where's Our Crew? 

⚓️ Gregory is currently on board the S/V Enola, overseeing the coordination of all the remaining work. Steffen will join him in a few days, after which Dimitri will meet them, having almost finished the translations for our website. The three of them will be on board for Hanse Sail before crossing the Kiel Canal and heading to the English Channel and Cowes. Becca will join in August and September, followed by Morgan at the end of the summer.
