All things come from you and of your own do we give you
1 Chronicles 29.14
Dear La Côte Church friends and family,
As we head towards Gift Day and our Thanksgiving service at Crassier at 16.00 on 15 June, we are thinking with gratitude of the many people and groups involved in the life of our church.
Our Church Council are pleased to be able to present short profiles of members of our congregation over the coming days, which we hope you will enjoy and find inspiring. Thank you to all who have contributed!

1. Please give your name & role Jessica Chapman - preparing refreshments after Divonne morning services
2. How long have you been attending La Côte? Since December 2022
3. How long have you been in this role? Around 18 months
4. What does this role involve? Beforehand- signing up on Church Suite for weeks we’re free, preparing snacks (bought or home made depending on how the week goes!), coffee, tea bags, milk and squash/ sirop as well as clean tea towels, bringing these to church. Before the service- setting up cups & saucers, sugar, milk, juice, biscuits etc, setting off the coffee machines, boiling the kettle (although not all at the same time to avoid overloading the fuse box!) At the end of the service- serving drinks to the congregation, washing up cups, coffee pots etc afterwards, ensuring the kitchen is left clean & tidy and rubbish taken away. Taking tea towels away to launder (I take my own to avoid the risk of forgetting to take the church ones back!).
5. How much time does this role take each week/ month? Maybe half an hour before the service to set up and half an hour to 45 minutes after the service to serve & wash up, plus remembering to add milk/ coffee/ biscuits to our weekly shopping list and 5 minutes to put everything in a bag the night before.
6. What do you find fulfilling about this role? Being able to serve the community in a practical way that encourages people to stay around afterwards and create connections by chatting over a coffee; it’s also a good way to involve the family as Johnny prefers not to take part in Sunday Club but will happily wash dishes!
7. Finally, could you share a resource that you find encouraging or helpful in your Christian life? The most impactful thing is probably the weekly prayer meetings I have with a prayer partner- we started meeting in person in 2019 then went online during Covid lockdowns, so it was natural to continue praying over WhatsApp when she moved back to the UK. Regular conversations about what we are seeking God’s help with reminds me to look back, see God’s hand in the past week and be thankful for what we have received. It has especially been an encouragement to see how situations we’ve prayed over for months or even years are answered in God’s timing.
We would like to express our deep gratitude to so many of you who contribute to the mission of our church with your generous gifts of time, talents, and financial support. This gift day forms a vital part of our finances. If you can contribute with an extra gift, here are the details of the church bank account:

If you would like to discuss regular giving, please contact Mark Warren.
Thank you very much for your kind contributions.
Finally, please take a moment to reflect on how fortunate we are to have all the positive things that our church life provides and to offer a prayer of thanksgiving.
From Jessica Chapman (La Côte Church Council member)
