All things come from you and of your own do we give you

1 Chronicles 29.14

Dear La Côte Church friends and family,

As we head towards Gift Day and our Thanksgiving service at Crassier at 16.00 on 15 June, we are thinking with gratitude of the many people and groups involved in the life of our church.

Our Church Council are pleased to be able to present short profiles of members of our congregation over the coming days, which we hope you will enjoy and find inspiring. Thank you to all who have contributed!

1. What is your name and your role in the church community?
Liz Martinez - Leading intercessions in the service at la Côte Church.

2. How long have you been attending La Côte?
About nine years

3. How long have you been in this role?
Maybe three years

4. What does this role involve?
Writing intercessory prayers and reading them out during the Sunday services

5. How much time does this role take each week?
Since I started this role I would say I have only written prayers for four services so not very many! It’s hard to say how long it takes, possibly an hour or two. Once I know that I have to write some prayers I have a look at the theme for the week and then start thinking about it… walking around or driving the car into work! Eventually an idea will come to me and I will sit down and write the prayers.. and then go back to them a few times and make changes.

6. What do you find fulfilling about this role?
I like and feel confident writing so I feel that this is something which is within my skill set and where I can contribute to church life. What I love about La Cote church is that there is very little hierarchy and we are all asked to do so many different tasks. Years ago I would never have imagined being considered "holy" enough to write intercessions. I really feel that writing them and reading them out God can work through us, it’s nothing to do with how we are as people, and it is very humbling.

7. Finally, could you share a resource that you find encouraging or helpful in your Christian life?
I am a great fan of Kate Bowler About -
I particularly like listening to her podcasts where she speaks to a variety of very inspiring people - Christian and non-Christian

We would like to express our deep gratitude to so many of you who contribute to the mission of our church with your generous gifts of time, talents, and financial support.
