Dear La Côte Church friends and family,

Thank you to everyone who shared in our Harvest worship last Sunday and who brought goods to pass on to Restos du Coeur. As we enjoy the beauty of this season, here is a prayer to guide honest thanksgiving and steps towards peace.

Giving Thanks

For the expanding grandeur of creation, worlds known and unknown, galaxies beyond galaxies, filling us with awe and challenging our imaginations:
We give thanks this day.
For this fragile planet earth, its times and tides, its sunsets and seasons:
We give thanks this day.
For the joy of human life, its wonders and surprises, its hopes and achievements:
We give thanks this day.
For our human community, our common past and future hope, our oneness transcending all separation, our capacity to work for peace and justice in the midst of hostility and oppression:
We give thanks this day.
For high hopes and noble causes, for faith without fanaticism, for understanding of views not shared:
We give thanks this day.
For all who have laboured and suffered for a fairer world, who have lived so that others might live in dignity and freedom:
We give thanks this day.
For human liberty and sacred rites; for opportunities to change and grow, to affirm and choose:
We give thanks this day.
We pray that we may live not by our fears but by our hopes, not by our words but by our deeds.
We give thanks this day.

- O. Eugene Pickett, from Jesuitresource.org

Building community and welcoming newcomers

Saturday 26 October: La Côte Church Auction of Time, Talents and Things

Following the huge success of the last La Côte Auction 2022, we are holding another one!
This was a key fundraising event for our La Côte Church, which raised important funds to keep our community going.
However it was also a very important community event, where we came together to share a wonderful evening of fun. As many of our auction items were also sharing meals, walks, line dancing classes (to name just a few), this theme of sharing community spilled over into the following months.
It is in this spirit, that we would like this years’ auction event to continue. Please do think carefully about what you may be able to contribute. Click here for ideas of what to donate.
Please do make this a priority - we need input from you all.
We look forward to sharing a truly fun filled evening, with hot food included, BYO bottle, a bidding BONANZA and great memories to take away with you!

PLEASE register with Liz Bramley, as this will help us with numbers for catering.

We will issue the catalogue of offers available about a week before the event, so you can have a good browse ahead of time. This will also explain all about how the auction will work.

Please email Diantha Terry with any offers.
