(Betty Talbot, Autumn harvest) | | | Dear La Côte family and friends, Harvest Sunday invites us to pause and give thanks for the gifts of God’s creation: the food we enjoy, the land that sustains us, and the people whose work brings nourishment to our tables. Gratitude is at the heart of our relationship with God. An attitude of gratitude helps us to recognise that all we have and all we are is gift. When we take time to notice these gifts, our hearts can become more attentive to God’s presence in the ordinary things of life. Harvest encourages us not only to say “thank you”, but to live thankfully. Our gratitude naturally leads us towards generosity and service. As we recognise God’s abundance, we become more aware of those who experience hunger, poverty or loneliness, and we are invited to share what we have received. As we celebrate Harvest Sunday, may we cultivate a spirit of gratitude: noticing God’s goodness, receiving each blessing with thankful hearts, and allowing our thanksgiving to overflow into love and generosity towards others. Non-food goods, such as (clean) clothing, blankets, hygienic products (e.g. toothpaste, soap, etc.), are also welcome. La Côte Anglican Church is organizing a collection of used eyeglasses (including sunglasses) between September and December 2026 and would be grateful for any contributions. The collected eyeglasses will be given to the Lions Club of Switzerland, who collaborate with Médico Lions Clubs of France, to recondition the eyeglasses received and distribute them to patients with visual impairments in developing countries.
