Dear La Côte Church family and friends,
Thank you for your messages of kindness and understanding, following the announcement this week. In our Tuesday prayer group, taken from the Northumbrian Community Morning Prayer, we read these verses from Psalm 73:
24You guide me with your counsel,
and afterwards you will receive me with honour (or ‘to glory’)
26 My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength (Hebrew rock) of my heart and my portion for ever.
When we feel unsettled and maybe anxious about our future, the psalms often help to anchor us in God’s faithfulness, renewing our trust in our loving Creator and Redeemer. We can turn these words into a prayer for ourselves, for our church and for the wider changing geo-political and ecological landscapes.
Last Sunday, I referred to a song about joining in God’s love (Mission Dei) for our world, and entrusting the rest to God:
“I’ll sing the song that’s mine to sing… We’ll leave the rest to You.”
