WEEKLY BULLETIN

Dear La Côte Church friends and family,

Easter is the high point of the Church Year.  For the Church, Easter Sunday is the beginning of fifty days of celebration known as Eastertide that concludes on Pentecost Sunday.

Eastertide celebrates the Resurrection of Christ and its consequences for us.  We are reminded of the beginnings of the Christian Church and the launching of its mission on Pentecost.

This coming Sunday is Easter 2, and every year, we read the same gospel passage about ‘Doubting Thomas’.  But the accompanying Scripture reading for this day is from Acts 2, which recounts Peter’s testimony about Jesus.  Peter boldly reprimanded the religious leaders for organizing the execution of Jesus but declared that the resurrection of Jesus by the power of God shows that Jesus is the Messiah.

And Thomas, when he saw the resurrected Jesus and his wounds, uttered the remarkable declaration that undergirds our Christian faith, that Jesus is Lord and God.

Eastertide celebrates the Resurrection of Christ and its consequences for the original disciples and followers of Jesus, and for us.  With opened hearts and minds, Thomas and Peter experienced the transformative power of resurrection life in their lives.  Our loving God invites us to experience this transformative power of resurrection life in our lives, too.

Ascension-Day Pilgrimage 14 May 2026

Join us after the ascension-day service for our traditional pilgrimage from Vésancy chapel to Nyon on a walk visiting all the churches we use. From Vésancy, we will walk to Divonne, Crassier, Gingins, Signy and end up in Nyon where you are invited to celebrate your arrival at Cate’s house from 18h00 onwards with potluck nibbles. We have now been doing this walk for 5 years and would like to open it up to everyone.

Some practicalities:

  • It is a 25km walk, however:

  • We will organise sweeper cars for those who would like to only do part of the walk

  • Please contact Niki Low and Cate Bichara if you will be walking and let us know how far

  • Please let us know if you can bring either some nibbles/finger food or drinks to Cate’s

  • Map here

Looking forward to seeing you then.
