Dear La Côte Church family and friends,

This week, La Côte Anglican Church joins churches throughout the Diocese in Europe and the whole Church of England in marking Safeguarding Sunday.

We live in a time when trust in the Church has been shaken by revelations of abuse, neglect and silence about that abuse and neglect, but we do not shy away from those revelations.  Rather, we are determined to take action towards positive change.

A UK-based independent Christian safeguarding charity called Thirtyone:eight has released a short video found at this link: https://vimeo.com/1103162647. The film seeks to explain, in a light-hearted way, what safeguarding is and why it is important. It is suitable for all ages.

On Safeguarding Sunday, churches of every size, shape and tradition are invited to stop, reflect and take action to make our communities safer for all.

In our service at Gingins on Sunday afternoon, we will read scripture that demonstrates God’s loving care for all, and his desire to protect and nurture us all.  We will think about what it means to be a safe, loving and accountable community of God’s people.  And we will reflect on how our calling to follow Jesus includes the call to protect, respect, and cherish every person made in God’s image.
